The Outdoor Programs and Properties team strives to meet the needs of councils and council camping operations with helpful and timely conversations about all things BSA camping. This webinar series is meant for camp leaders (professional and volunteers) who are responsible for camps in the council. The webinars listed below are meant to be helpful tools to understand BSA policies and answer questions about topics related to camping. Registration is required for each and is FREE. (all times listed are Central time)

9/30/2021 – 2021 Summer Camp Lessons Learned – 2 PM 

  • Summer camp 2021 provided new challenges as the BSA reopened camps across the country. Join us for a review of lessons learned from a wide variety of incidents, including COVID-19. This interactive discussion about 2021 incidents will allow each of us to learn together how to create safer camp experiences for all in Fall 2021 and into 2022.

10/28/2021 NCAP 2022 Standards: What Changed and What Do You Need to Know for 2022? – 7pm

  • The National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP) is an important tool for successful camping! Join us for an in-depth look at what NCAP standards have adjusted for 2022 and what you need to know to be prepared for a successful camping season throughout 2022 for all camp types – camp properties, day camp, short-term and long-term camp. 2022 NCAP standards will be released by no later than 9/30.

12/9/2021 COPE & Climbing Programs Untangled – 2pm

COPE & Climbing programs offer incredible opportunities for our Scouts! But these programs also come with a great deal of inherent risk that our national standards and training programs seek to mitigate. Join us for this deep discussion into what is really required to run COPE and Climbing programs at camps of all types and at unit activities. Topics will include directors vs level II instructors vs COPE & Climbing Program Trainer; what is the ACCT and how does it integrate with the BSA; proven practices to run safer programs.
