Welcome to All-terrain vehicles

All-terrain vehicles (ATVs or UTVs) are banned from program use and are not approved for unit use. The exception is council-approved ATV programs.

ATVs are defined as motorized recreational cycles with three or four large, soft tires, designed for off-road use on a variety of terrains.

The BSA started to explore the possibilities of running ATV programs in camps in 2014.  A partnership with Polaris has been developed to work with councils to use vehicles for a limited time to develop their program while raising funds to purchase vehicles to replace the loaners.

Currently, the only product is an ATV loan program available through the Polaris Company.

As more councils provide this popular program we will look for Best Practices and other information to share.
