Monthly Training
District and Council Commissioners
Providing timely and relevant training for your unit commissioners is an important aspect of your role. The “Micro-Learning” project provides short topics that can be used in three ways:
- Assign a specific podcast prior to your Commissioner Staff Meeting and discuss it during your meeting.
- Respond to an immediate issue by directing a commissioner to the podcast library.
- Commissioners access the podcast library as needed
We hope these podcasts will provide you with the information you need, when you need it, in a flexible way. For more information on how to use these podcasts more effectively, please listen to Episode 100: “Introduction to Micro-Learning”.
Commissioner Casts
Discussion Documents can be used as a resource in your Commissioner Meetings. Ask your commissioners to listen to the relevant podcast prior to the meeting and use the Discussion Document to guide a follow-up conversation.
- Episode 100 - Introduction to Microlearning | Discussion Document
- Episode 101 - Welcome to Unit Service | Discussion Document
- Episode 102 - Before the First Meeting | Discussion Document
- Episode 103 - During the First Meeting | Discussion Document (coming soon!)
- Episode 104 - After the First Meeting | Discussion Document (coming soon!)
- Episode 105 - Providing Cheerful Service | Discussion Document (coming soon!)
Annual Training
One of the responsibilities of the council commissioner is to see that a complete program is in place to train every commissioner in the council. A council commissioner should plan to conduct an annual training event, which can be in the form of a commissioner conference or College of Commissioner Science.
See the College of Commissioner Science pages for everything that you need to conduct a local CCS event.
Content will soon be added to this page to support council commissioners with resources for conducting an annual commissioners conference.
