2015 Updates


II. Aquatics Safety: The Safety Afloat section was updated to clarify Cub Scout participation in pack and den events.

VIII. Sports and Activities: The Climbing and Rappelling, and COPE Activities sections were each revised and expanded throughout.

XI. Transportation: Additions to this chapter include the future policy on using 15-passenger vans and guidelines on safe driving.

2014 Updates


II. Aquatics Safety: The BSA’s aquatics play structure policy was added to this section.


III. Camping: The Age Guidelines section was changed to reflect Tiger Cubs being allowed to attend resident camp.

VIII. Sports and Activities: The Climbing and Rappelling section was expanded to clarify district and council activities, as well as appropriate program-specific activities.

Age-Appropriate Guidelines for Scouting Activities: The Climbing section was reorganized for the Guide to Safe Scouting insert.


IV. Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drug Use and Abuse: The Tobacco section was updated to disallow the use of electronic cigarettes, personal vaporizers, or electronic nicotine delivery systems at any BSA activity.

X. Insurance: The entire section has been replaced to show coverage available to volunteers and chartered organizations.
