Scouting America seeks an experienced and resolute leader to serve as Head of Contingent (HOC) for the USA delegation to the 26th World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) in Poland from July 30 to August 8, 2027. The WSJ is a unique international event, uniting approximately 35,000 Scouts from around the globe for an unforgettable experience of global friendship, personal growth, and cultural exchange. The HOC plays a vital role in recruiting, organizing, and leading the USA Contingent, ensuring a safe, exciting, and meaningful International Scouting experience for all youth and adult members. This position demands strategic leadership, organizational expertise, financial oversight, and a deep commitment to Scouting America’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the USA Contingent’s planning, budgeting, execution, and reporting
- Assemble and manage the Contingent Management Team (CMT), ensuring smooth operations
- Represent the USA Contingent at international meetings and collaborate with the WSJ Organizing Team
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all USA participants while fostering a vibrant and inclusive Jamboree experience
- Promote the WSJ across Scouting America to encourage broad participation and engagement

Open Call Timeline:
- Expressions of interest are due by February 16, 2025
- Selection Process: A panel will review expressions of interest, contact selected candidates for interviews, and present finalists for approval
- Please note: Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee an interview. Applicants will be notified of their consideration and next steps if applicable. If not selected for the HOC role, please consider applying for Contingent Management Team (CMT), Unit Leadership roles and International Service Team (IST). An OPEN CALL for CMT and Unit Leaders will be announced this spring, and registration for IST will open in 2025
Personal Financial Commitment:
The HOC will cover personal expenses related to this role, including transportation, lodging, and registration fees for the WSJ and three required on-site HOC meetings in Poland before the WSJ.
Time expectation:
This role requires a considerable time commitment from March 2025 through administrative closeout in Fall 2027. In addition to the WSJ and pre-WSJ meetings, this includes regular participation in monthly (at minimum) CMT Zoom meetings, International Committee Executive
Committee (IC ExCom) Zoom calls, and other preparatory activities.

Role: International Credentialing Volunteer Lead

The Administration Pillar of the International Committee is responsible for supporting the Scouting America International Committee efforts to engage Scouts in World Scouting. The Administration team is seeking a credentialing volunteer lead to assist with reviewing and approving Scouting credentials, creating necessary documentation, and ensuring a smooth and efficient process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently, maintaining positive interactions with volunteers and other team members.
The Credentialing Volunteer Lead is an important part of the Administration team and will work closely with the Deputy Vice Chair of Administration, and members of the International Committee. Credentialing Volunteer Lead will assist with:
Expected Tasks:
- Approve and create travel credentials in line with organizational policies and standards
- Engage positively with volunteers, providing clear communication and assistance regarding travel-related inquiries
- Track, organize, and maintain accurate records of received travel requests and related information
- Prepare and distribute International Letters of Introduction (ILI) and World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) ILI Passports supporting approved travel for the organization
- Ensure rapid turnaround of travel approvals and documentation to meet organizational timelines
- Perform duties with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and accountability
Successful candidates will have skills and experience in:
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Proficient in basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel; experience with tools such as Google Docs, Gmail, and project management applications are an additional advantage) and comfortable with digital tools
- Previous experience in administrative roles or volunteer organizations is a plus
- Collection and coordination of information from various sources
- Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and maintain confidentiality in handling records
Time expectation:
Volunteers will be expected to commit roughly 4-6 hours/week during the spring and summer to perform tasks and provide status updates, attend monthly virtual meetings, and one in-person meeting a year.
