Role: World Scouting Exhibit Staff – National Jamboree 2026 – Summit Bechtel

Pillar: Events/Program

Length of Role: 2026 National Jamboree will be held Wednesday, July 22, through Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve (The Summit) in Glen Jean, West Virginia.

Description:
World Scouting Exhibit Staff – Exhibit Team members will work to spread awareness of the vision of the World Scouting (World Organization of the Scout Movement) with Jamboree participants through interactive program and displays. Exhibit members will promote World Scouting programming, including World Scout Jamboree 2027 (Poland), World Scout Moot 2029 (Taiwan), JOTA/JOTI, the Messengers of Peace program, Scouts for SDGs, InterAmerican Leadership training, Iceland Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre, Kandersteg International Scout Centre, and more through interactive programs and displays. The World Scouting Exhibit will also host earning of the Scouting America Interpreter Strip by scheduling counselors and applicants and help to implement a Jamboree-wide Messengers of Peace project.

 

Expected Tasks:

  • Work on scheduled shifts to man the World Scouting Exhibit, all staff will have guaranteed at least one full day off. Shifts will be split into 3 each day to ensure all staff members have ample time to rest, rejuvenate and enjoy the Jamboree experience.
  • Arrive 1-2 days before Jamboree session start to participate in exhibit program training and help with set-up.
  • Engage Jamboree participants in learning about World Scouting, upcoming world events, and International Scouting programming.
  • Actively promote our U.S. Contingent registration for 26th World Scout Jamboree in Poland (2027).
  • Encourage Jamboree participants to participate in the Jamboree-wide Messengers of Peace (MoP) project.
  • Help facilitate the administration of the Interpreter Strip program (second language not required).
  • Open, clean and close the exhibit each day, shift dependent.
  • Perform duties with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and accountability and a cheerful servant spirit.
  • All travel is the responsibility of the Staff applicant.

 

Successful candidates will have skills and experience in:

  • ALL Staff must have current membership in Scouting America at the time of application, and it must stay active until after the Jamboree ends.
  • ALL Staff must also be approved by their Council prior to consideration (part of the general Jamboree JST registration process).
  • Strong interest and knowledge in and/or past participation in World Scouting, world events and/or programming.
  • Enthusiasm for World Scouting and its promotion within Scouting America.
  • Ability to work cross-culturally, with sensitivity to diversity of national and ethnic origin and faith or beliefs.
  • Second language skills welcome to help provide Interpreter Strip program.
  • Ability to stand for 4-6 hours in the heat, while working with others cheerfully.
  • Previous experience in staffing a world event (IST) a plus.
  • Ability to work as a team member and take direction.
  • Must commit to at least one full session of the Jamboree (as outlined below).

 

Time expectation: 

Volunteers will be expected to work roughly 4-6 hour rotating daily shifts for the duration of the Jamboree (as registered). Staff committing to the first session of the Jamboree will be expected to help with initial set-up of the exhibit. Staff committing to the second session ONLY of the Jamboree will be expected to help with tear down and packing of the exhibit before departure. ALL Staff will be required to attend a short mandatory in-person exhibit orientation training session on-site before reporting to work. The exhibit orientation training sessions will be scheduled for July 21st and July 25th (for second session attendees only). ALL Staff must attend 2-4 pre-Jamboree virtual meetings (date TBD).

Staff Schedule:

Staff arrive to set up the Summit Bechtel Reserve for the 2026 National Jamboree as early as July 19 and stay through departure day on July 31. Staff members can attend in one of three sessions:

  • Session 1: July 19-31, 2026 (Full Jamboree)
  • Session 2: July 19-25, 2026 (First Half)
  • Session 3: July 25-31, 2026 (Second Half)

Role: International Credentialing Volunteer Lead

Pillar: Administration

Length of Role: 1 year, opportunity for renewal

Description:

The Administration Pillar of the International Committee is responsible for supporting the Scouting America International Committee efforts to engage Scouts in World Scouting. The Administration team is seeking a credentialing volunteer lead to assist with reviewing and approving Scouting credentials, creating necessary documentation, and ensuring a smooth and efficient process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently, maintaining positive interactions with volunteers and other team members.

The Credentialing Volunteer Lead is an important part of the Administration team and will work closely with the Deputy Vice Chair of Administration, and members of the International Committee. Credentialing Volunteer Lead will assist with:

Expected Tasks:

  • Approve and create travel credentials in line with organizational policies and standards
  • Engage positively with volunteers, providing clear communication and assistance regarding travel-related inquiries
  • Track, organize, and maintain accurate records of received travel requests and related information
  • Prepare and distribute International Letters of Introduction (ILI) and World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) ILI Passports supporting approved travel for the organization
  • Ensure rapid turnaround of travel approvals and documentation to meet organizational timelines
  • Perform duties with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and accountability

Successful candidates will have skills and experience in:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively 
  • Proficient in basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel; experience with tools such as Google Docs, Gmail, and project management applications are an  additional advantage) and comfortable with digital tools
  • Previous experience in administrative roles or volunteer organizations is a plus
  • Collection and coordination of  information from various sources
  • Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and maintain confidentiality in handling records

Time expectation: 

Volunteers will be expected to commit roughly 4-6 hours/week during the spring and  summer to perform tasks and provide status updates, attend monthly virtual meetings, and one in-person meeting a year.
