Director of Programs, Adventure and Innovation
Position Overview

The Program Director oversees the planning, development, and execution of the council camping, activities, and programs. They extend support to all district activities and provide guidance to the appropriate volunteer committees to fulfill their duties. Additionally, they oversee the management and operations of the council’s camps and program facilities.
- Provide leadership to the operation of Camp Pine Mountain, Camp Frank G. Lumpkin, and activities.
- Plans and implements activities (e.g., merit badge colleges, NOVA, camporees, Cub, and Scouts BSA activities, etc.) working through volunteer committees.
- Develop the Merit Badge Universities, STEM – Robotic Days, Outreach and Civic Service Days, volunteer initiative to provide the necessary leadership to staff each Camp Campus.
- Collaborate with the camp and program director to oversee the planning, budgeting, staffing, promotion, safety, and implementation of the Council Camp Programs for Scouts BSA, Cub Resident, Cub Family, and/or Day Camps.
- Provide support with the Georgia & Alabama Eagle Scout Day, Report to the State, and Chattahoochee Council Annual Meeting.
- Serve as the professional staff advisor to the VP of Outdoor Adventure, NCAP Team, Risk Management Committee, National Jamboree Committee, Order of the Arrow, and Council Outdoor Adventure Committees, i.e., Camping, Aquatics, Shooting Sports, COPE/Climbing.
- Assume responsibility for preparing, developing, and presenting the council’s program and activity budgets ($450,000) for board approval. Additionally, oversee the management of income and expenses related to the council’s programs and activities.
- Work closely with the Outdoor Adventure Committee to identify and prioritize the infrastructure, maintenance, and program material needs that will best enhance Camp Pine Mountain and Camp Frank G. Lumpkin.
- Provide leadership of the Guardians of the Camps.
- Plans, promotes, and directs the activity and outdoor program through various communication and marketing channels.
- Assists in ensuring the council’s mission in the area of programs and activities is accomplished through the long-range plan.
- Give leadership to council-wide service projects such as Scouting for Food, Veterans Day, and Arbor Day.
- Secure sponsors and funding opportunities that will assist in supporting the activities and programs.
- Maintains a professional working climate that attracts, retains, and motivates top-quality volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned by the Scout Executive.
Responsibilities
- Strong marketing and program development background.
- Camp management experience.
- Must be very familiar with NCAP standards. Must be comfortable with public speaking and interacting with diverse audiences. Excellent people skills, enthusiastic, punctual, responsible, and creative.
- Self-motivated individual with solid time management skills and strong organizational skills in management, budgeting, and planning.
- Committed to personal and professional productivity, while maintaining high ethical and professional working standards
- Knowledge of employment practices/laws and the Scouting America personnel system.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University.
Qualifications
- Accept and meet Scouting America’s leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law
- Commissioned professional with a minimum of 3+ years’ experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), preferred experience utilizing Canva or a similar graphic design tool. People-oriented, having the ability to work well with adult volunteers, community and business leaders, and representatives of other organizations.
- Able and willing to work varied hours when necessary to achieve positive objectives / willing to work evenings and weekends.

We also offer a generous vacation policy and holiday observances.
Starting Pay Range: $50,000-$65,000, mileage will include $300 a month, $25 toward cell phone. Benefits start on the first day.
