Position Overview

Join our team as a Lead Maintenance Tech and be a vital part of our team at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM. The Lead Maintenance Tech position is vital for ensuring the operational integrity and safety of our facilities. As a Lead Maintenance Technician, you will maintain and repair the facility’s structure, machinery, equipment and grounds, plumbing, electrical, and/or HVAC systems. Your expertise will be essential in performing skilled trades work, such as carpentry or painting in the construction, repair, or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs, or office fixtures. You will be expected to complete periodic or special inspections on the premise to determine repair work necessary. May work from blueprints, drawings, or rough sketches. Responsibilities
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment and facilities. Adds and replaces electrical, mechanical, and other equipment.
  • Ensures that the appropriate permits, regulations, licenses, and certifications are maintained.
  • Is responsible for leading others (i.e., staff, contractors, and seasonal staff).
  • Provides office moves, space reconfigurations, and construction.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Competencies
  • Knowledge of:  Advanced construction, maintenance, and repair methods; electrical circuits and wiring systems; electrical conservation methods and practices; HVAC systems and application installation, maintenance, and repair functions; plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair function.
  • Skill in: Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing; completing simple mathematical calculations; working in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to: Lead teams; make operational decisions; and maintain safety awareness.
Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalency.

Qualifications
  • 6 years of previous commercial electrical, plumbing, or HVAC experience, including six years of experience in commercial building maintenance.
  • Must pass a criminal history background check and driver’s license check.
Licenses
  • Valid state driver’s license required.
  • HVAC or licensed electrician and BOMA certification preferred. Additional certifications may be required in specialized skills or trades.
