The Longhorn Council, Boy Scouts of America is actively seeking candidates for the role of District Executive – a territory manager for Scouting in a specific region. As a district executive, your role extends beyond the conventional – you will recruit and maintain a board of volunteers to provide leadership in all aspects of district operations. This includes driving membership growth, revenue growth, exceptional customer service, and comprehensive program development and support. A successful district executive embraces responsibility for the success or failure in achieving annual objectives and goals, elevating the role to one of true leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Be a self-motivated individual with solid time management skills and strong organizational skills in management, budgeting, and planning.
  • Be comfortable with public speaking and interacting with diverse audiences.
  • Have excellent people skills, be enthusiastic, be punctual, be responsible, and be creative.
  • Provide exceptional customer service through timely and regular communication, meetings, training, events, and activities.
  • Work with a diverse community and business leaders to identify, recruit, train, guide, and inspire others to become involved in youth programs.
  • Achieve progress towards specific goals and objectives which include fundraising, membership recruitment and retention, volunteer recruitment and training, and program development.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders including religious, civic, fraternal, educational, and other community-based organizations to grow Scouting membership.
  • Achieve net income and participation objectives for assigned camps and activities.
  • Be a good role model and recognize the importance of working relationships with other professionals and volunteers.
  • Be committed to personal and professional productivity, while maintaining high ethical and professional working standards.
Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (transcript with the date degree conferred stated is required for employment).

Qualifications
  • Must be willing to accept and meet the Boy Scout of America’s leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Ability to work varied hours when necessary; evening activities and weekend work is frequently required to achieve positive objectives.
  • Ability to travel for training at least once a year for one to two weeks.
  • Maintain residence in the geographical territory of the district.
  • Provide and maintain an automobile in the performance of your duties.
  • Offers for employment are subject to criminal, reference, and motor vehicle background checks.

Desired Skills for this position include:

  • Ability to speak and write in Spanish.
  • Non-profit, fundraising or sales experience.
  • Fiscal management and budget development.
  • A Scouting background is helpful but not required for employment.
Licenses

Benefits include major medical, prescription coverage, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, accidental death, a 403(B) Retirement Plan with company match, and Employee Assistance Program plus compensation for authorized and approved business-related expenses including mileage reimbursement. The Longhorn Council reimburses cell phone expenses $75 per month and business mileage at $.67 a mile monthly (or the current IRS rate). Additionally, a generous vacation policy and twelve holiday observances in offered.

Salary: $50,000 per year with annual performance-based raises.

Adams has also received multiple service awards from the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.
