Position Overview

The Warehouse Associate Lead facilitates the processing of orders and materials at the National Distribution Center (NDC) in support of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) membership and programs. This position is responsible for logistics’ coordination, collaboration with freight carriers to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and ensures proper packing and shipping of one or more of the following: BSA materials, merchandise, or food. Operates in a scanning and bar-coding environment, using available tools and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Performs or oversees wrapping, securing, and/or labeling containers.

Responsibilities
  • Processes product orders accurately and timely.
  • Oversees the work of staff and skilled employees, assigning tasks, providing guidance and support, and ensuring efficient completion of tasks.
  • Maintains accurate inventory levels, conducts cycle counts, resolves discrepancies, and reports issues to management.
  • Maintains acceptable productivity levels for the warehouse.
  • Ensures a safe work environment by enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety inspections, and reporting potential hazards to management.
  • Operates warehouse equipment safely and efficiently, following proper procedures and maintaining the equipment.
  • Audits shipping processes for possible improvement, streamlines procedures to increase efficiency, reduces errors and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with all internal departments to optimize the flow of orders.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years’ experience in Warehousing, Distribution, or related field; including inventory management, equipment operation and maintenance, and coaching/mentoring team members. Hands-on experience in shipping area highly preferred.
  • Direct supervisory experience in a warehouse environment preferred.
  • Experience using a forklift preferred.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems and Inventory Management Systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Fluency in English required; limited working proficiency in Spanish preferred, but not required.
  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms, and other printed materials and information.
  • Hearing acuity for verbal communication, conversations, face-to-face interactions, and/or responses via telephone and telephone systems in a warehouse environment with ongoing noise from surrounding machinery.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours a day.
  • Ability to sit for up to 4 hours a day.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, twist, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. unassisted
