Position Overview

The District Director will serve as the Chief Operating Officer of the assigned geographic region in Santa Clara County and will be responsible for achieving strategic objectives for quality membership growth, fundraising growth, and community relations. This position will work with a diverse population within Silicon Valley.

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Responsibilities

Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains a professional working climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates top-quality volunteers.
  2. Provide leadership to the effective organization and implementation of effective youth recruitment strategies.
  3. Provide leadership to increase direct and indirect funding support for the council. Cultivate, recruit and support council and district-level volunteers to achieve the annual district Friends of Scouting fundraising campaign.
  4. Develop, monitor, and control district budgets to contribute net excess revenue for the operating budget.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the campaign manager for the annual Friends of Scouting fundraising campaign. Provide leadership and guidance to staff and volunteers to achieve the campaign goal on time.
  2. Give leadership to result in membership growth through implementation of the council’s membership plan.
  3. Give leadership to result in effective unit service and customer service of stakeholders – including parents, Scouts, leaders, donors, and the community.
  4. Recruits, develops, and maintains effective executive volunteer committees.
  5. Serve as staff advisor to critical council committees and ad-hoc task forces as needed.
Qualifications
  • Seeking individual who is professional in dress, well-spoken and comfortable in social and networking settings.
  • Strong interpersonal, written communication and verbal presentation skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. (Transcript with the date degree conferred stated is required for employment)
  • Proficiency with graphic design software and social media marketing preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PPT) preferred.
  • Team player, positive attitude and willing to learn.
  • Eligible for employment in the United States of America and commission from the Boy Scouts of America.
  • A Scouting Background is helpful but not required for employment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.

Salary Range of $75,000 to $85,000 with a relocation bonus.

A triathlete who has completed hundreds of races, Alexander has also mentored the women’s triathlon team at Arizona State University.

He has more than 40 years of experience in the oil, gas, and energy fields, including serving as a president, owner, and CEO. Adams has also received multiple service awards from the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.
