Program Aide
Position Overview
The Program Aide will serve as a key leader for after-school Scouting programs in the Garden State Council. A Program Aide will engage Scouts in active and imaginative activities and will draw in and manage parents and potential leaders. In conjunction with our partner organization, Program Aides will work directly with our youth members to teach them life skills including physical fitness, environmental conservation, active citizenship, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) awareness. Program Aides need to be self-starters, self-motivated, be able to work independently and have a desire for community involvement.
A passion for helping young people develop into responsible adults, and a high comfort-level for working directly with children are essential skills for this position.
Responsibilities
- The effective operation and supervision of the Scouting program within selected schools
- You are required to wear a Scout uniform shirt or staff shirt at all meetings and activities involving youth. (to be provided)
- Willingness to learn weekly program content & deliver that content to our youth members
- Ability to commit to a weekly schedule of program from the months of September-May
- Coordinating weekly program content with professional staff members
- Maintain weekly records such as attendance, advancement, and membership applications
- Ability to work in a team-setting with other program aides
Education
- Must be 18+
- Youth-oriented, having the ability to work well with children
- Should be organized, self-motivated and a team player
- Must live locally & be able to arrange transportation to and from program locations
- Scouting experience a plus
- Available each week at least three days between 2-5pm Monday through Friday
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
