Directions

Before the meeting:

  1. Clear an area where everyone can move safely from one side of the space to the other.

During the meeting:

  1. Explain the activity. Have everyone stand in the middle of the room.  Explain that you’ll call out two choices.  When you say the choices, players must quickly move to the side of the room that matches their choice.  Left side = first option, right side = second option.
  2. Say, “Ready?” and begin by saying the first “This or that” choice.
  3. Once everyone has chosen a side, give them a moment to look around and see who else chose similarly. Remind participants that the activity is about making quick choices and finding similarities and shared interests with new friends.  Every answer is right.
  4. Some ideas include:
    • Cats or dogs?
    • Hiking or swimming?
    • Pizza or tacos?
    • Summer or winter?
    • Roller coasters or water slides?
    • Singing or dancing?
    • Building or drawing?
    • Popcorn or candy?
    • Hot dogs or hamburgers?
    • Tent camping or cabin camping?
    • Fishing or boating?
    • Board games or video games?
    • Minecraft or Roblox’s?
    • Team games or solo challenges?
    • Building a campfire or cooking s’mores?
    • Campfire of picnic?
    • Mountains or beach?
    • Daytime adventure or nighttime adventure?
    • Building a fort or flying a kite?
