Supply List

  • One three-foot length of paracord per player
  • One additional six-foot length of paracord per team
  • 60-yard roll of 1-inch blue painter’s tape

Objective

Be the first team to tie their ropes together using square knots.

Set-Up

Identify an area free of hazards to conduct the relay.  If indoors, mark a starting line on the floor using blue painter’s tape.  Place one piece of paracord 20 feet away from the starting line for each team.

Directions

Give each player a piece of paracord.  Create even teams and have them line up single file behind the starting line.

Instruct players that on “Go”, the first player is to run to their team’s six-foot paracord and attach their paracord to the six-foot paracord using a square knot, get their knot approved by the game leader, and run back.  Repeat, one at a time, with each Cub Scout attaching their cord to the previous three-foot paracord for their team, making the paracord longer until all Cub Scouts have attached their paracord.

The team that has all their paracords tied first is the winner.
