Supply List

  • Paper Plates – one plate per participating Cub Scout plus one additional plate per team
  • Painters Tape

Objective

Team building game to get the team across the finish line.

Set-Up

  1. Use painters tape to designate a start and finish line approximately 20 feet apart.
  2. Divide Cub Scouts into small groups of about six.
  3. Provide each team with one plate per team member plus one extra plate.

Directions

Instruct each team of Cub Scouts to line up in a single file behind the starting line, each one standing on a paper plate. The Cub Scout at the front of the line will hold the extra plate.

Instruct Cub Scouts that they must only stand on paper plates and should not touch the floor outside the paper plates. On “go,” using only the paper plates they are currently standing on and the one extra plate for their team, they are to work as a team to get their whole team across the finish line.

Do not give more specific instruction on how to accomplish this. The intent of this activity is for the Cub Scouts to solve this problem themselves, as much as they are able. Additional guidance should be provided by leaders as needed during the activity while encouraging the Cub Scouts to be creative in solving this problem. There are many approaches to this problem.

Give the Cub Scouts, “Ready, Set, Go!”
