8 sports cones
The team with the most players wins.
Mark off an area free of hazards that is 50 ft by 100 ft. Mark corners of play area with four sports cones. Identify the halfway mark of the 100 ft. length of the play area. Place cones 2 feet from the center on each 100 ft. side.
Divide the Cub Scouts into two teams – the Crows and the Cranes. The teams line up facing each other 2 feet from the center of the field. When the game leader calls out “Crows”, all the crows must race to their base without getting tagged by a crane. When the leader calls out “Cranes”, all the cranes must race to their base without getting tagged by a crow. Players who get tagged become a member of the opposite team and that team becomes bigger for the next round. The teams face each other again 2 feet from the center of the field for the next round, and the game leader calls out either “Crows” or “Cranes”. Play continues until either all players are on one side, or the team with the largest number of players at the end of a given time wins.
Level Up – When calling out “Crows” or “Cranes” the leader can add dramatic pauses such as “Crrrrrrr-anes” or Crrrrr……ows”. The leader can add in “Crabs” when “Crabs” is called no one should move but if someone does, they become a member of the opposite team.
