Supply List

  • One 11-inch balloon for each Cub Scout
    • Safety Note: Many balloons are latex. If there are latex allergies among your unit, be sure to use non-latex balloons.
  • One chair for each team of Cub Scouts
  • Painters tape

Objective

Be the first team to pop all their balloons or improve their time as a single team.

Set-Up

Inflate one balloon per Cub Scout.  Place a tape line on the floor for use as a starting line.  Place a chair for each team ten feet away from the starting line.  Divide Cub Scouts into teams.

Directions

If playing with more than one team: Instruct Cub Scouts that, on “Go”, the first Cub Scout on each team will take one balloon, run down to their team’s chair, pop the balloon by sitting on it, and then run back.  Other Cub Scouts on each team will then repeat this, one at a time.  All other Cub Scouts must remain behind the starting line when it is not their turn. The team to pop all their balloons first wins.

If playing as a single team: Cub Scouts will take turns in the relay using a single chair. Play will continue until each Cub Scout has had a turn. Repeat the relay with the goal of improving the team’s time.

After the game

Collect and dispose of all balloon fragments and tape.
