Supply List

  • 6 sports cones
  • Whistle
  • Neckerchief to serve as a blindfold
  • Chair
  • 6” playground ball
  • 50 ft. rope

Objective

Have the ball in the opposite team’s play area when the whistle blows to score points.  The team with the most points wins.

Set-Up

Find an area 100 ft. x 50 ft. free of hazards.  Mark off the corners of the area with cones and two additional cones halfway on the 100 ft. sides to identify the side boundary.  Place the 50 ft. rope between two side sports cones to cut the play area in half.

Directions

Divide the group into two teams – one on each side of the rope.  Players must not cross the rope and they must stay in their team’s play area.  Choose one Cub Scout to be the game leader; they will be seated outside of the play area.  The game leader is blindfolded so they cannot see which team has the ball and when.  The game leader has a whistle.

The game leader starts the game by blowing the whistle; play begins as the ball is thrown side to side across the rope.  When the game leader blows the whistle again, whichever side the ball is on, the opposing team gets a point.  If the ball is in the air when the whistle is blown, an adult supervising the game will determine what side the ball was on when the whistle was blown.  If the ball is thrown and it lands outside of the play area the other team gets a point.  If a player steps out of the play area the other team gets a point.

The team that gets to 10 points first – or has the most points after a designated period of time – wins.
