Position: Assistant Ranger, Massawepie Scout Camps
Position location: Tupper Lake, New York (NY)
Position Overview
Making a difference in the lives of young people through the Scouting Program and at Scout Camp. Seeking a positive-minded, high-energy, and self-motivated individual to assist part-time with all forms of maintenance and upkeep at a year-round facility in the Adirondacks. Position reports directly to the Massawepie Scout Camps Property Superintendent.
Responsibilities
- All work is done onsite at 65 Massawepie Road, Tupper Lake, NY
- All work is done in person and has no remote opportunity
- Be alert to conditions that affect health, safety, sanitation, and good housekeeping, working to provide safe, fully operational camp facilities all year round.
- Candidate will help with landscaping, snow removal, household trades, equipment operation, summer camp set up and tear down, general maintenance, including janitorial needs
- Familiarity with boats and paddling activities is welcome
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working relationships with other staff, campers, leaders, and volunteers
- Other duties as assigned by the Property Superintendent
Hours: Candidates should be available to work 24-hours a week, year-round. Weekday and Weekend hours may be required. The final schedule will be determined by the Property Superintendent.
Rate: Beginning at $16.00 – $22.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Qualifications
- Be over 21 to apply.
- Have a valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to drive safely on and off the road
- Candidates are required to have a reliable mode of transportation
- Be eligible to work in the United States
- Live within driving distance of Massawepie Scout Camps, Tupper Lake, New York.
- Prior experience with the position’s essential functions is a plus.
- Familiarity and comfort in and around ponds and lakes are welcomed
- Prior experience working around youth is a plus.
- Must be willing to register and complete a Scouting America member application, and do in-person training.
