Assistant Reservation Director
Position Overview
The Assistant Reservation Director is a key member of the Ten Mile River Scout Camps leadership. Functioning in a support role, the Assistant Reservation Director supports the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all camps operating at the reservation. Under the supervision of the Reservation Director, the Assistant Reservation Director provides reservation-wide logistical, administrative, and operational support, ensuring that program delivery, facilities use, and shared services meet the standards of Greater New York Councils, Scouting American, and applicable regional regulatory agencies.
This is a seasonal leadership position with responsibilities conducted remotely from January through Mid-June and in residence at the reservation from mid-June through late August.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Reservation Director in coordinating reservation-wide operations to support all camps and programs.
- Provide oversight of logistical systems, including inventory, distribution, and tracking of program supplies, shared equipment, and materials.
- Support Camp Directors in delivering quality Scouting America programs by ensuring appropriate logistical and operational support.
- As necessary, assist with the procurement, issuing, and replacement of program equipment and supplies necessary for camp operations.
- Compile, maintain, and organize documentation required for the National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP).
- Assist with preparation for NCAP assessments, inspections, and visits.
- Support compliance with Scouting America’s policies, council procedures, health and safety standards, and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Assist with payroll administration for reservation staff, including payroll submissions and coordination with the Greater New York Council’s main offices.
- Ensure all staff are compliant with required employment and Scouting America paperwork, including hiring documents, background checks, Safeguarding Youth Training, certifications, and other mandated forms.
- Track and document payroll adjustments, including corrections, stipends, promotions, and terminations, ensuring all changes are accurately recorded and promptly communicated to the main offices.
- Track and document camp staff paycheck distribution, ensuring proper accountability and recordkeeping.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive personnel and payroll information.
- Serve as a liaison between the Reservation Director and individual Camp Directors regarding operational and logistical matters.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to reservation-wide planning and problem-solving.
- Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and adherence to Scouting America’s values.
- Assist with daily reservation operations during the summer camp season, including inspections, supply distribution, and special projects.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in Scouting America camp operations or similar youth-serving outdoor programs.
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management tools such as Blackpug or similar software used for booking reservations and/or programming.
- Familiarity with NCAP standards and accreditation processes.
- Experience in logistics, operations, or camp administration.
Licenses
- Residential Camp Director Certification from the National Camp Accreditation Program, or willingness to obtain

Room and board for the period of camp operations.
Salary or Salary Range: starting at $8,000, 2 months seasonal, July through August
