Our recent Scouts BSA Advancement webinar provided valuable guidance on Boards of Review, covering the policies and procedures that support these critical milestones in a Scout’s journey. If you weren’t able to attend or would like to review the content, the recording is available here: Power of the Panel: Elevating Your Boards of Review.
We’d also like to remind everyone of the following section from the Guide to Advancement (GTA):
From the GTA, section 1.0.0.0
“The policies and procedures specified in (the Guide to Advancement) must be implemented by all units, districts and councils. Therefore, they must work for all units, districts and councils, no matter how large, small, geographically dense, economically diverse, etc. For this reason, policies have been designed to be firm enough to maintain the integrity of the Scouting program, while broad enough to allow councils and districts to match to their circumstances while retaining the intent.”
Where policy options are chosen by local councils, or delegated to districts, it is always a best practice to ensure they are well-documented and broadly publicized/shared. Council advancement chairs should ensure that implementation is consistent across districts.
