Set-Up:

Gather Cub Scouts and families, and have adult recognition ready to present.

Directions

Before the Ceremony
  1. At least a week prior, contact the Chartered Organization Representative to confirm their attendance and provide them with a copy of the script.  
  2. Print the ceremony script. 
  3. Purchase the Pack Committee Chair position patch from the Scout Shop. 
During the Ceremony

Chartered Organization Representative: 

 “Scouting is a journey that relies on the dedication and leadership of volunteers who give their time and talents to support our Cub Scouts and their families.  Tonight, we are pleased to announce the selection of [Incoming Committee Chair] to serve as the next Pack Committee Chair for Pack (Number).  [Incoming Committee Chair] has been selected because of their leadership skills and has been approved by [chartered organization].  

 

The Pack Committee Chair plays a vital role in ensuring our Cub Scout program is strong by identifying the resources in the pack to ensure our leaders are supported and our Cub Scouts have the best possible experience.  They agree to make sure that the Cub Scout program is delivered in accordance with the rules and regulations of Scouting America and or our chartered organization.  This position requires commitment, organization, and a passion for shaping the future of our youth.  We are looking forward to your leadership in this important role.  

 

[Incoming Committee Chair], as you take on the responsibility of leading our Pack Committee, I ask you to reaffirm your commitment to Scouting by reciting the Scout Oath and Scout Law.” 

 

Incoming Committee Chair faces the Pack, raises the Scout Sign, and recites the Scout Oath and Scout Law. 

 

Chartered Organization Representative 

“[Incoming Committee Chair] has pledged to uphold the values of Scouting and lead our Pack Committee with dedication and integrity.  Do you, the leaders, Cub Scouts, and families of Pack [Number], pledge to support [Incoming  Committee Chair] in this role?”  

 

Audience replies: “We do.” 

 

Chartered Organization Representative presents a Committee Chair position patch and a symbol of office, such as a gavel: 

 “[Incoming Committee Chair], I now officially welcome you as the Pack Committee Chair of Pack [Number].  May your leadership bring growth, adventure, and success to our Cub Scouts and leaders.  Congratulations!”

U.S. Department of Homeland Security, leading the first-responder program
and has two U.S. presidential appointments

David Alexander

David Alexander is a Baden-Powell Fellow, Summit Bechtel Reserve philanthropist, and recipient of the Silver Buffalo and Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. He is the founder of Caljet, one of the largest independent motor fuels terminals in the U.S. He has served the Arizona Petroleum Marketers Association, Teen Lifeline, and American Heart Association. A triathlete who has completed hundreds of races, Alexander has also mentored the women’s triathlon team at Arizona State University.

Glenn Adams

Glenn Adams is a recipient of the Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, Silver Buffalo, and Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. He is the former president of the National Eagle Scout Association and established the Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award. He has more than 40 years of experience in the oil, gas, and energy fields, including serving as a president, owner, and CEO. Adams has also received multiple service awards from the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.
