Snapshot of Activity

Cub Scouts will observe animals while on a hike and then sketch 1 wild and 1 domestic animal they saw on their hike.

  • 1 wild and domestic worksheet per Cub Scout
  • 1 pencil per Cub Scout
  • Printer
  • 1 clipboard per Cub Scout

Before the meeting:

  1. Print one copy of the wild and domestic worksheet for each Cub Scout.

 

During  the meeting:

  1. Gather Cub Scouts together and tell that that they are going to be looking for wild and domestic animals on a hike.
  2. Ask Cub Scouts if they know the difference between wild and domestic animals.
    1. What a wild animal is (an animal that is found in nature)
    2. What a domestic animal is (an animal that is kept as a pet)
  3. As you are walking ask Cub Scouts to point out different animals they see and ask them to draw them in the wild or domestic area of the paper.
  4. After the hike, ask Cub Scouts to tell you about the wild animals they found, then ask about the domestic animals they found.
