This recognition recognizes cold weather camping (particularly for Cub Scouts)
Who Can Earn This Award?
Although many Councils offer special award programs for cold weather camping, there are no national standards for such awards. The availability of such an award program is determined by local Councils along with the requirements (which vary widely). Similarly, the name of the award is determined by your local Council. “Polar Bear Award” probably is the most common name.
How To Get the Award
Some councils may offer patches for the award. If not available, units may purchase at scoutshop.org
Supply Item Description & Uniform Placement
Most commonly a patch, worn on uniform where temporary insignia may be placed (left pocket) or sewn onto a separate memento article of clothing, blanket, etc.
