Being a Good Parent

Parents are role models for their children. Effective role models have a strong relationship with their spouse, a genuine desire to raise children, and active involvement in their physical, emotional, social, and moral development.

Taking care of physical needs

Children need food, clothing, and shelter. Parents must ensure meals are nutritious and safe, and clothing is appropriate for the climate.

Providing love and emotional support

Children need unconditional love and emotional support. Discipline should never involve threats to withdraw love. Even when correcting behavior, children must feel loved and secure

Offering guidance and discipline.

Children need guidance and discipline to feel safe and secure. Setting clear limits helps protect them while allowing freedom. Parents play a key role in teaching right from wrong through consistent boundaries.

Providing protection

As a parent or guardian, it’s the parent’s responsibility to keep children safe. Always know where they are and ensure they’re protected at home, in the car, and anywhere under your care.

Providing economic support

Parents or guardians are responsible for financially supporting their children. Raising kids can be costly, and sometimes parents must sacrifice personal wants to meet their children’s needs.

Taking Care of healthcare needs

As a parent or guardian, it’s important to ensure each family member’s health through medical coverage, regular doctor visits, and maintaining a clean, safe home environment.

Sharing resources such as time, talent, and ideas.

Your children will need your time and attention. You may find yourself doing everything from helping build cars for a pinewood derby to helping with math homework.
