Commissioner Recruiting

GO TO: Assess | Plan | Act | Resources

Anyone with a servant’s heart who represents the values of the Scout Oath and Law and reflects the communities our units serve is a candidate to be a commissioner; we can train willing volunteers who meet these standards to serve units.

This page will help you recruit the commissioners needed to support units and ensure that every member of the BSA has a great Scouting experience.

Prioritizing Assigned Commissioners

Given the reduced size of our commissioner force and the current number of units that are struggling, it is more important than ever to be intentional in how commissioners are assigned to units. The recruiting and retention team have developed a thoughtful approach that will enable administrative commissioners to better support the retention goals of each council.
