National Commissioner Service Recruiting and Retention Chair
Bruce Doole, an assistant district commissioner, was the
first person in the San Diego Imperial Council to earn the
Commissioner Award of Excellence in Unit Service. His desire
to lead by example has made him the top user of the Unit Visit
Tracking System in his district. He has helped establish an
annual Merit Badge Day through one of his units, the third of
which last month had more than 320 Scouts working on 34 merit
badges. Additionally, Bruce set up a Personal Management
merit badge course through the council in partnership with
Junior Achievement that sold out with more than 50 Scouts
attending and a waiting list for next year. He also has set up
an annual continuing education course for estate attorneys
and CPAs to build awareness of the council’s endowment
funds through his endowment committee at the council
board of directors.
