This will be a continuing series of articles on various aspects of the properties we own, lease, care for, and want to improve. As we all know, the program of Scouting is valuable to the growth of youth in this country and around the world. The camp properties where we deliver that program needs to convey that value and the coming articles are intended to assist us all in making that conveyance to our current users, as well as all of our future users and their families.
As many of us have come to know maintaining anything involves effort, time, and capital. This is an introductory article to set the stage for all that will be produced on a monthly basis. All aspects of our operation are open and in time will be addressed. The intent is to help you do better at many of the things you already do.
A lot of what we do already is good. Can we do better though? Can we build better? Can we use better materials? Can we be more cost-effective? The answers to these questions and more has to be a resounding YES! We’ve got to up our game and the sooner we do, the sooner we grow this movement again.
This page will not be limited to just our facilities though. Planning, budgeting, options, considerations, challenges, property, ownership, legalities, alternatives, maintenance, design, siting, and many, many other topics are in the works. If there are specific topics you would like to see addressed in future editions, please feel free to make those suggestions.
