Boy Scouts of America

United States Fund for International Scouting (USFIS)

The United States Fund for International Scouting (USFIS), within the National Boy Scouts of America Foundation, maintains the funds contributed to the World Friendship Fund.

This fund is administered by the USFIS committee an appointed sub-committee of the BSA International Committee. The National Boy Scouts of America Foundation has full tax privileges and is not a private foundation.

Collected contributions are used to assist developing National Scout Organizations (NSO) around the world. Any NSO that is recognized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) can submit a grant request for projects to enhance their growing organization. Every February, May, and October the USFIS committee reviews these grant requests.

The approved grants receive funding and must validate the appropriations of these funds toward their proposed Scout enhancement projects that directly affect the growth and strengthening of their NSO. Measurable, non-commercial grant requests are those most often approved. Grant requests must also be endorsed by the NSO’s Chief Scout or International Commissioner as well was the NSO’s Regional Office Director.
