Cancellation of the International Camp Staff Program

The International Department regrets to share that the International Camp Staff Program will no longer be sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America.

We are very disappointed that this cherished and successful program must end, but encourage your council camps to consider having international counselors on your staff. Please visit the State Department’s list of Camp Counselor Designated Sponsors to find an organization that can assist you in hiring an international camp counselor. As always, National Camp Standards still apply. All international camp counselors must still be approved through the International Department to ensure that the international counselor is an approved member of their National Scouting Organization, a Safe From Harm check has been completed, and a suitable background check in accordance with national guidelines and legislation was made. Councils must also ensure the international counselor has accident and sickness insurance coverage while employed at your camp.
