As summer slowly ebbs into fall, the changing of the seasons signals heading back to school and Cub Scout recruitment along with the brisk excitement the holidays around the corner. But it’s also the time of year we see a lot of really fun movies get ready to welcome those of us squeezing the most out of the carefree days of warm weather and late sunsets or wet our whistle for their release dates later in the season.
We consulted the Heads Up blog over at Boys’ Life to get a feel for some of the fall family movies Cub Scouts and Scouting families might be excited to see, and we found a few pretty fun ones.
Disney’s Pete’s Dragon
It’ll be interesting to see the update on this retro classic from Disney. Opening in just a few days on Aug 12 this is sure to be a family-fun night at the movies. More at Heads Up.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
From the never-exhausted imagination of J.K. Rowling, this movie also takes place in the Harry Potter universe and promises to be full of beastly surprises in the most delightful of ways. More at Heads Up.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
September 30th comes with this dark and creepy movie adapted from the wildly popular children’s book. It may be a bit too thematic for your younger Cub Scouts, but it’s sure to be filled with fantastic special effects and an intriguing story. Read more at Heads Up.
Later in the fall we see another Disney story, this time with Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson leading the cast in an island adventure that looks as funny for parents as it is sure to be for kids. Read more at Head Up.
