Weekly meeting focus and tips

This post is from a few years ago, but the tips and the message are as relevant as ever and great to review for new and seasoned Cub Scout leaders alike. In recalling one of the many excellent articles at Scouting magazine, the Cub Hub sought to draw attention to one article in particular about Cub Scouts titled “Why advancement isn’t the end-all for each week’s meeting.” From the article:

“The most important thing for a Scout who comes to a Cub Scout meeting is to learn—but to learn while having fun,” he says. “That’s one of the things that makes Cub Scouts different from school. It shouldn’t be like school. They should want to come every week.”

Over at Scouting Magazine, there’s a must-read post on Cub Scouts and advancement. One key takeaway: it’s a balancing act.
