A ceremony to install new Den Leaders, conducted by the Cubmaster
Pack
Gather Cub Scouts and families, and have adult recognition ready to present.
Set the candle on a small table in the front of the room.
Cubmaster:
“Tonight we gather to welcome [name of new den leader], who has been chosen and approved to serve as a new den leader of our [rank] den. The role of a Den Leader is the most important role in Cub Scouting.”
“The Den Leader organizes activities, leads meetings, and helps Cub Scouts grow in knowledge, character, and skill. The Den Leader teaches by example, showing our Cub Scouts how to live by the Scout Oath and Law.”
“[Incoming Den Leader Name], please raise the Scout sign and repeat the Scout Oath and Law after me as a commitment to the principles of Scouting and to the Cub Scouts you will lead.”
Cubmaster presents the position patch and neckerchief to Den Leader.
Cubmaster:
“This Den Leader patch represents the role you are about to undertake. Wear it proudly as a symbol of your commitment to this den and our Pack. The neckerchief represents your connection to Scouting’s legacy and community.”
Cubmaster invites Incoming Den Leader to light the candle.
Cubmaster:
“As you light this candle, may it remind you of the positive influence you will have on the Cub Scouts in your care. Let your leadership be a light to guide them through their Scouting journey.”
“Let us welcome [Incoming Den Leader Name] as the newest member of our Pack’s leadership team. Together, we look forward to an exciting journey ahead, filled with learning, adventure and fun.”
