  • Fish Tag found in Additional Resources
  • Printer
  • Hat
  • Stickers, any kind will do

Before the meeting:

  1. Print one copy Fish Tag found in Additional Resources.
  2. Cut out and fold the card deck.
  3. Cut out the bait pieces and put them in a hat.
  4. Set up meeting space free of obstacles and with room for the Cub Scouts to run safely.

During the meeting:

  1. Have Cub Scouts gather on one side of the den meeting space. Hand each Cub Scout a fish card.
  2. One adult stands on the other side of the meeting space. Two adults stand in the area in between, the “swim” lane.
  3. Explain that you are going fishing. They are fish and will “swim” to the bait. But they must avoid getting caught along the way.
  4. Pull a piece of “bait” from the hat and read out loud. When the players hear the type of bait called, they are to check their card and see if they are the type of fish that likes to eat that specific bait.
  5. If they are, players should try to run across the room to the other side without being tagged by the adults in the swim lane. If the players get tagged, they are given a sticker.
  6. After each “bait” call, Cub Scouts return to the group.
  7. Play until all the bait is eaten from the hat.
  8. The player with the LEAST number of stickers wins.
