Cub Scouts review fire safety rules and locate a safe area for a campfire.

  • Campfire Safety worksheet found in Additional Resources
  • Printer
  • Pencils, one for each Cub Scout
  • Access to Campfire Safety Key found in Additional Resources

Before the meeting:

  1. Print a copy of the Campfire Safety worksheet for each Cub Scout.
  2. Set up meeting space for Cub Scouts to complete worksheet.
  3. Identify an area around the meeting space where a campfire could be safely built.

During the meeting:

  1. Hand out the Campfire Safety worksheets and pencils. Ask Cub Scouts to complete the worksheet.
  2. Discuss the answers.
  3. After Cub Scouts have reviewed the worksheet, ask them to buddy up.
  4. Walk around outside your meeting space. Ask Cub Scouts to identify a safe area to possibly build a fire.

Tip: You may want to complete this requirement when on the campout.
