To qualify as a Eagle Scout World Explorer, candidates must:

  • Be an Eagle Scout
  • Be 18 years of age and not older than 27 years of age by June 1
  • Major or intend to major in a the field for the opportunity they are applying for
  • Be prepared to blog, speak, write, and be interviewed on behalf of Scouting to report on the trip, what it means personally, and how Scouting prepared you for the experience
  • Either have a current valid passport or obtain one no later than June 1 (does not include domestic opportunities)
  • Have medical insurance and complete a BSA Medical form

Eagle Scouts who are qualified and would like to be considered for these wonderful opportunities must complete an online application which includes a 250-word essay. Finalists will be announced by the end of January and required to submit a 3 minute YouTube video expressing reasons to support their selection within two weeks of announcement expressing reasons to support their selection.

Developing responsible citizenship, character, and self-reliance, Hampden-Sydney College embraces the values also shared by Scouting. Every year at H-SC, approximately 35 freshmen, 10% of the entering class, have attained the rank of Eagle Scout-among the highest percentages at any college or university in the country. Any accepted Eagle Scout who attends Hampden-Sydney College will receive this scholarship.

The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) offers a multilevel scholarship program to introduce Venturers and Sea Scouts to the exciting underwater world. PADI recognizes that adventure is one of the key elements of the Scouting program. Scuba diving is an exciting avocation or vocation that can be enjoyed in just about every part of the country. The selection process is based on applicants’ involvement and achievements in their church, school, Scouting, and community. Awarded to selected full-time students who have earned the rank of Eagle (Boy Scouts of America), Summit Award (Venturing), or Quartermaster Award (Sea Scouts). Incoming Freshmen who have received one of these awards may receive $1,000 per year. Proof of Scouting award is required. Recipients must live on-campus and maintain a 3.0 GPA. The Scout Award is renewable up to a maximum of eight semesters.

The Mervin Sluizer, Jr. Scholarship Fund is open to high school senior who are current members of the Boy Scouts of America and are active in the Greater Philadelphia area. This area includes, Bucks, Chester Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties in Pennsylvania as well as Burlington, Camden and Gloucester in New Jersey.

To honor Mr. Emmett J. Doerr, who was a dedicated Catholic Scouter and a very active member of the National Catholic Committee on Scouting® (NCCS). He was the first recipient of the Brother Barnabas Founders Award. His other honors include the Silver Antelope, Silver Beaver and the St. George medals. The Doerr family and the NCCS are continuing his legacy by offering this scholarship in his name to six (6) distinguished Catholic Scouts.

The National Eagle Scout Association has established the Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award to recognize exceptional Eagle Scout service projects, which is part of the requirements for earning the Eagle Scout Award. Each local council will choose a council-level recipient, and from that pool, each region will pick a region-level recipient. A national recipient then will be selected from the four regional finalists.

The University of Evansville has teamed up with America’s Scouting organizations to create the UE Scouting Scholarship – a $56,000, four-year award for recipients of the Eagle Scout Award, Quartermaster Award, or the Summit/Silver Award. Candidates also must visit the UE campus and have a high school GPA of at least 3.5 and score 1530 or higher on the SAT or 23 or higher on the ACT.
