DEI Leadership

LISA SCHUCHART - Chief Diversity Officer and VP of HR, Scouting America

Lisa is the Chief Diversity Officer and VP of HR of Scouting America. She leads the DEI and the HR Talent and Operations teams. Lisa joined Scouting America in February of 2021 as an Executive DEI Consultant, tasked with helping create strategies and initiatives to advance DEI. She was hired as Director of DEI in September of 2021 and promoted to her current role in June of 2023. A few of the achievements Lisa is most proud of include, introducing the Citizenship in Society merit badge for youth, inclusion training for all volunteers and employees, inclusion resources for use by all Scouters, monthly education on cultural and inclusion events, hosting the first inclusion spaces at the National Jamboree, growing Workforce Resource Groups and their influence, and growing diverse membership.

Prior to joining Scouting America, Lisa worked in HR and DEI for multiple organizations, starting out in marketing, working in portfolio management for Discover Financial Services (DFS), where she grew the business from $11B to $20B and increased ROI by 36%. Her passion for helping people and organizations realize their potential led her to a move to HR, where she led an employment rebranding and the formal introduction of DEI. Career highlights include implementing diversity recruitment, training and high potential programs at DFS and CNA Insurance, that remain the core pipelines of diverse entry level and experienced talent and hipo development today; her work in inclusion and talent growth at Circana (formerly IRI), resulting in an increase of 42 points in employee engagement over an 18 month period and increasing diversity in the leadership ranks, and leading HR efforts for an acquisition that enabled improved data access and integration resulting in increased collaboration and success of customers and organizational revenue and profitability.

Lisa earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Bowling Green State University. She has spent her life volunteering with youth, leading mentoring and college preparatory programs for inner city youth in Chicago for 10+ years, serving as a Commissioner on the Illinois State Charter School Commission, as an Advisory Group member for the Illinois State Board of Education Financial Reform Committee, and as a volunteer leader for tutoring and college prep programs for the Blessed Sacrament Youth Center in the Lawndale community in Chicago. Currently Lisa serves on the Talent and DEI Task Forces for the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys reading, spending time in the great outdoors with her rescue dog, Brody, and exploring her new hometown of Dallas.
