Boy Scouts of America

Preparing Young People for Lives of
Scouting for adventure
Adventure Is Everywhere In Scouting.

Whether it’s that first Pinewood Derby race, the glide of a canoe across a glass-surfaced lake or the view from a drone floating high above, every merit badge and every step on the trail Scouts explore and expand their worlds as they go. Whether it’s hiking, climbing, programming, camping, the arts, physical fitness, service – every trail builds skills, and grit and leads today’s Scouts even closer to becoming their best future selves.

Adventure Is Outdoors
  • Outdoor adventure is alive and well in more than 700 local council camps across the nation.

  • More than 300,000 Scouts attended one of these camps in 2023.

  • More than 29,363 Scouts and leaders struck out on treks at Scouting America’s high adventure bases in 2023.

  • These once-in-a-lifetime adventures let Scouts put the lessons of leadership, character, and grit into practice in the great American outdoors.
