Boy Scouts of America

World Support

The Boy Scouts of America and its International Department have created several avenues of financial support of the world Scouting movement. Those avenues include the following:

The World Friendship Fund of the BSA offers a practical Good Turn opportunity for BSA youth members and leaders. Cash contributions are used to assist Scouting through the World Organization of the Scout Movement and through national Scout associations in developing countries. Tax-deductible contributions can be from individuals, units, camp, and training course groups. Unit participation in the World Friendship Fund offers a unique annual service project to benefit brother Scouts around the world.

The World Baden-Powell Fellowship established on 25th April 1982 in Kolmaarden (Sweden), recognizes individuals for their contributions to the World Scout Foundation to help support world Scouting. Fellowship receptions are periodically held in different parts of the world to both inform members about Scouting and to welcome new members who are personally awarded a special insignia by His Majesty The King of Sweden.

Order of the Condor  is an endowment recognition program of the InterAmerican Scout Foundation for individuals. Income from the fund is used to help support work of the InterAmerican Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. The region serves member Scouting associations in North, Central, and South America as well as the Caribbean.

Gilwell Park, for many, is the spiritual home of Scouting: it embodies Lord Baden-Powell’s dream of a dedicated training center for Scouts. The Gilwell Fellow program has been developed to help protect the heritage of Gilwell Park for future generations.

Kandersteg International Scout Center was founded in 1923. Lord Baden-Powell said that he dreamt of one place in the world, where the “Jamboree” feeling – feeling of world brotherhood, peace and international friendship – would happen all year long. That place is KISC the Permanent Mini Jamboree. Join over 500 Members in supporting the Dream by becoming a member of the KISC Association.

The United States Fund for International Scouting (USFIS), within the National Boy Scouts of America Foundation, maintains the funds contributed to the World Friendship Fund.

This fund is administered by the USFIS committee an appointed sub-committee of the BSA International Committee. The National Boy Scouts of America Foundation has full tax privileges and is not a private foundation.

Collected contributions are used to assist developing National Scout Organizations (NSO) around the world. Any NSO that is recognized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) can submit a grant request for projects to enhance their growing organization. Every February, May, and October the USFIS committee reviews these grant requests.

Details on any of these programs are available by contacting the International Department.
