Amanda Vogt
Central Region President
Serving as the 2007-2008 Central Region Venturing President is
Amanda Vogt. Amanda has previously served the Central Region as the
2006-2007 Central Region Area 5 Venturing President. In that position,
she established monthly newsletters and wrote the first set of Bylaws
for an Area in the Central Region.
She also has
served her council, The Greater St. Louis Area Council, as an EVOA
(Exploring/Venturing Officers Association) and a VOA (Venturing
Officers Association) officer. In those positions she has served on
the Venturing Recognition Night Committee, the Fall Fun Rally Committee
(one of the largest Venturing Events in the Nation), and served on the
Bylaw Committee for writing new Venturing Bylaws for the Greater St.
Louis Area Council. She also served as the New Horizon District VOA
President.
While involved nationally now, she is
keeping her boots on the ground serving Venturing Crew 2783, chartered
through Salem in Ballwin United Methodist Church, in St. Louis, MO, as
Recording Secretary (previously has held 4 other Crew officer
positions), and as an Assistant Scoutmaster for local Boy Scout Troop
783. She is also a member of Venturing Crew 2996 chartered by
Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO, and currently serves as their
historian. She is a 13-year member of the Girl Scouts of America
through which she has earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, and the Girl
Scout Silver Award, Girl Scouting's highest two awards a youth member
may earn. She currently serves as a mentor for Cadette Girl Scout
Troop 2356 and is a registered Girl Scout Adult Leader.
Soon
to be entering her sixth year of Venturing, Amanda has lead her
Venturing Crew on 6 Super Activities as an officer of her crew. These
include: yacht sailing on Lake Michigan; overnight canoe trips on the
Wisconsin and Buffalo Rivers; extreme mountain biking in the Upper
Peninsula of Michigan, Colorado, and Virginia; hiking Mount Yale in
Colorado; a Philmont trek; white water rafting in Colorado, and West
Virginia; horseback riding through the Colorado Rockies; diamond mining
in Crater of Diamonds National Park in Arkansas; and many other
adventures.
Through her many adventures with
Venturing, she has earned the Religious Life and Outdoor Bronze Awards,
the Gold Award, the Silver Award, the Ranger Award, the Trust Award,
the Council Venturing Leadership Award, and the Regional Venturing
Leadership Award. Through her church she has also earned the God and
Life Award, the high school level God and Country Award for the United
Methodist Church. She has also completed Kodiak training, Sea Scout
Leader Specific Training, Boy Scout Leader Specific Training, Boy Scout
Leader Basic Training, and Kodiak & Kodiak X Course Director
Training.
Amanda is a freshman at Lindenwood
University in St. Charles, MO, and the recipient of Lindenwood
University's Boy Scout of the Year 4-year full ride Scholarship. She
is majoring in Music Performance, Music Business, and Accounting. She
is a chapter officer of the Scouting based service fraternity, Alpha
Phi Omega.
In high school, she was involved in many
scholastic activities including National Honor Society, Tri-M Music
Honor Society, Renaissance, Junior Achievement, Show Choir, Chamber
Choir, Symphonic Orchestra, and Theatre.
