Doug Bowman
National Sea Scout Boatswain
Doug Bowman has been involved in Scouting since he was in the first
grade. Through the years, he has received many recognitions and
accomplishments from his experiences in Scouting including: earning his
Eagle Scout rank, the Venturing Silver Award, and the council level
Venturing Leadership Award; achieving the top score in the nation for
the Sea Scout SEAL course, serving as boatswain for the 2005 National
Flagship -- a product of a year of accomplishments, fun on the water,
and a long cruise trip to the British Virgin Islands -- and recently
being elected as National Boatswain.
Outside of
Scouting, Doug has been active in his High School through involvement
in the Morgantown High School Science Club, Robotics Club, Orchestra,
Marching Band, soccer team, and wrestling team. Majoring in Mechanical
and Aerospace Engineering at West Virginia University, he is currently
involved with the WVU Cycling Club and also participated in a pilot
course on Nanotechnology. Some other interests Doug has include
playing guitar and bass, scuba diving, sailing, boating, biking,
backpacking, camping, and fishing.
