Becoming a First Class Scout prepares the Scout to be more of a leader in his patrol, his troop and in the community. Planning a patrol menu for one campout — including which pans, utensils and other gear will be needed to cook and serve the meals—is a key requirement at this level. So is passing the BSA Swimmer Test—a test of safety as well as knowledge of several swimming strokes and techniques.
