Scholarships

International Scouting events can be expensive. Due to overwhelming requests from BSA members, we have added a tour to the BSA contingent’s trip to the 2015 World Scout Jamboree. This additional activity has significantly increased the price for participants. We suggest that each participant is fundraising on his or her own in addition to any funds acquired through family and friends. Paying your own way is a fundamental principle of the Boy Scouts of America.

The International Department of the national office will be offering need-based scholarships. The process for applying for these scholarships and other details are as follows:

  • The official 2015 World Scout Jamboree scholarship application must be completed in its entirety and mailed to the address on the application.
  • The scholarship is available only to youth members.
  • The maximum scholarship awarded will be $1,500.
  • The due date for consideration of a scholarship is Feb. 13, 2015. (The application must be postmarked by this date.)
  • Scholarship payments will be made directly to online registrations by Feb. 28, 2015.
  • Continue to make your regular payments according to the payment schedule. Any scholarship payments will be credited toward the remaining balance. If/when you receive your approved scholarship letter with an amount greater than your remaining balance, you will receive a refund for the amount greater than your balance.

Download the scholarship application here.

Your 2015 WSJ regional director may have additional opportunities for earning scholarships at the regional level. Please contact that director for this information as well as their scholarship procedures.

Refund Policy

If you have to cancel your participation in the jamboree, there are monies that cannot be refunded, including a $100 cancellation fee, all payments made on your behalf to the jamboree host country, airlines (actual ticket and/or deposits), tour fees, and troop/patrol equipment. Once such fees have been deducted, you may be eligible for a refund of any remaining monies you paid.
