Registration Information

12-Day and 7-Day Expeditions

Due to the popularity of our 12-day and 7-day Expeditions, registration entries are taken online during the month of November, two years preceding the summer you would like to reserve for your unit. This will result in a random draw in early December. By mid-October before the entry process begins, a registration packet will be available on our homepage.

Philmont Scout Ranch
17 Deer Run Rd.
Cimarron, NM 87714

Due to the popularity of the Cavalcade program (trekking on horseback), a lottery is conducted in late January, a year and a half preceding the summer you would like to reserve for your unit. To enter your unit in the Cavalcade lottery, please submit a letter or email of request by January 1 to Philmont with your name, address, unit and number along with the name of the council association.

Individual Treks

We encourage applications to be submitted prior to the summer of interest. Once an application is received and reviewed, an acceptance letter will be sent after January of the year of attendance.

Mountain Treks

Registration is conducted on the website under the "Philmont Training Center Events" tab, just like a regular conference attendant would register. Once registered online, Mountain Trek participants will receive an in-depth application in their registration packet. Each Mountain Trek participant must complete and mail this Mountain Trek application to Philmont prior to arrival. This form includes additional information that is needed by the Mountain Trek rangers.

National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE)

Hosted by Philmont Training Center, NAYLE registration usually opens about a year before the program begins.

Second Season Programs

Second Season program applications are accepted in the order they are received.
