Philmont Scout Ranch Conservation Training Opportunities

The Conservation Department at Philmont Scout Ranch has many opportunities for youth and adults to learn about conservation project planning and implementation. All programs are led by well-trained, interesting instructors with the skills and education to give you the experience you need. With options for youth as young as 14 through adults of any age on our staff, there really is something for everyone.  Space is available in all programs for 2016, and generous scholarships are available.

Roving Outdoor Conservation School

All of Philmont is your laboratory during this 21-day adventure. The Roving Outdoor Conservation School (ROCS) gives students an in-depth look at modern land management practices and the natural sciences behind them. ROCS is packed with hands-on activities, conservation projects, field research experience, and, of course, Philmont’s other world-class programs. A unique component of this program is the chance to meet and work with natural resource professionals from Philmont’s public and private land partners. Your mind and body will be put to the test as you explore 250,000 acres of New Mexico’s high country.
