International Camp Staff Program
Operated by the Boy Scouts of America, the International Camp Staff program
provides an opportunity for local councils throughout the United States to
enrich their Scouts' camp experience. The BSA invites Scouters from other
countries to be a part of BSA local council summer camps and/or Cub Scout day
programs, providing a mutual benefit of international exchange to American
Scouts and visiting Scouters.
Recognized as a cultural exchange program by the U.S. State Department,
the program allows Scouts from local councils throughout the United States
to come into personal contact with experienced Scout leaders from other parts
of the globe and to learn firsthand about foreign Scouting programs, countries,
cultures, and customs. The International Camp Staff program is an in-depth
international Scouting experience for Scouts in every council.
All applicants must be registered with the Scout association in their
country and have approval from their association to be eligible to participate.
All interested councils must apply through the International Division.
European Camp Staff Program
The European Camp Staff program offers young leaders from the Boy Scouts of America
the opportunity to learn about Scouting in European countries and develop their
leadership skills. The program encourages intercultural learning in these young
people by giving them a residential experience and a volunteer staff position at a Scout
center in a foreign country for six to eight weeks. It is administered by the European
Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in conjunction with the BSA.
All participants must be between the ages of 18 and 30 and must be registered
volunteers of the Boy Scouts of America. All participants will be covered by accident
and health insurance provided by the Boy Scouts of America. All applications must have
the approval of the national office of the Boy Scouts of America to be eligible.
Further information and applications may be obtained from the International
Division.
