July 25–August 2, 2017
This is an official event of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), hosted and organized by the Icelandic Boy and Girl Scout Association, for young people from ages 18 through 25.
Make plans to join 5,000 participants and 1,000 IST (staff) from 80 countries around the world at the Moot. It’s a fantastic international event held in a country of natural wonders and bright nights.
If you are a Boy Scouts of America (BSA) member born on or between August 2, 1991 and July 25, 1999, you are eligible to attend as a Scout participant. If you were born on or before August 1, 1991, you are eligible to join the Moot’s International Service Team (IST).
Check out the official Moot website, which offers the most current information. The site will be updated as preparations continue.
What’s a Moot?
Imagine a high-adventure World Scout Jamboree for young adult Scouts, but on a smaller scale and held in Iceland in mid-summer when the sun never sets. Go backpacking, kayaking, and exploring with men and women from literally around the world. Learn new cultures and make lasting friendships while participating in ancient Icelandic traditions. The word moot is Old English and means “an assembly held for discussion.” That’s Moot—a once-in-a-lifetime World Scouting experience!
