Philmont GPS Data

In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Philmont Scout Ranch, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) department is releasing a portion of our trail and camp data to the public.

Users must agree to these terms and conditions prior to obtaining access to Philmont Scout Ranch’s spatial data. These terms and conditions apply to both individual use of the data and aggregate use with other data.

Philmont Scout Ranch gives no warranty, expressed or implied, as to the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of these data. The information contained in these data is dynamic and may change over time. The data are not better than the original sources from which they were derived. These data are not legal documents and are not intended to be used as such.

Although these data have been processed successfully on a computer system at Philmont Scout Ranch, no warranty expressed or implied is made regarding the utility of the data on another system or for general or scientific purposes, nor shall the act of distribution constitute any such warranty. It is strongly recommended that these data are directly acquired from Philmont Scout Ranch and not indirectly through other sources which may have changed the data in some way.

Limitations on Use

Commercial use of Philmont Scout Ranch’s spatial data is prohibited. These data are provided for private use only. They are intended to assist Philmont’s participants and staff with trek and route selection.

Release from Liability

Philmont Scout Ranch shall not be held liable for improper or incorrect use of the data described and/or contained herein. It is the responsibility of the data user to use the data appropriately and consistently within the limitations of geospatial data in general and these data in particular.

Download Spatial Data

The KMZ format allows for easy viewing of data through the free program Google Earth. Versions of Google Earth are available for Windows, Mac, and Linux users.
