Fall/Winter Programs

While Philmont is best known for its popular summer programs, the Scout ranch is open year-round, providing high-adventure expeditions through the autumn, winter, and early spring. Consider participating in these exciting off-season programs:

Autumn Adventure crews enjoy the beautiful New Mexico fall, when opportunities abound for trout fishing, mountain climbing, photography, and more. Each group will plan its own itinerary with the assistance of a Philmont guide. The Autumn Adventure is a great program for traditional youth/adult crews. This is the only program in which an all-adult Scouting group may participate.(September-October)

Learn winter camping basics and how to camp comfortably in cold weather, and enjoy Philmont's beauty in winter. Winter Adventure treks can be set to fit your schedule, and can include ski touring, snow shelter building, snow camping, winter ecology, and use of winter tools and equipment. (Late December-March)

The five-day Master Educator course is designed for people who are actively teaching outdoor skills or providing recreation information to the public. This valuable training is recognized throughout the world by the outdoors industry, land management agencies, and the outdoor recreation community. Master Educators can train others in Leave No Trace skills as well as facilitate Leave No Trace Trainer courses and awareness workshops.

This course is offered during one week of the Autumn Adventure season. Dates vary from year to year check registration form for this year's dates. (Fall)
