Philmont Advisor Skill School (PASS)

These courses have been designed to train you to bring a crew to Philmont even if you've never been yourself.

Shakedown Guide

This guide is intended to be an all-encompassing tool for crews to utilize in order to prepare for an upcoming Philmont trek. It is highly recommended that crews participate in at least two shakedown hikes prior to their trek.

Assembling a Crew

Make sure your crew meets these specifications. Philmont crews and their members must comprise the appropriate number of participants who meet the age restrictions and have sufficient adult leadership, as well as a meeting other criteria.

Physical Conditioning

Being in top physical condition will help your crew enjoy their experience more and be less likely to experience medical problems. This training calendar and exercise tips will help you prepare for your expedition.

Developing Skills

Time and effort spent in sharpening your hiking and camping skills will allow you more time to enjoy the natural beauty and program features at Philmont.

Dining In The Backcountry

Philmont will provide all the food that crews require on the trail.
