Rocket Academy

District and Packs

Event description

Rocket Academy is a one-day event for districts and packs to invite communities and neighborhoods. First- through fifth-graders are invited to join in this family adventure with rockets, including rocket building and rocket launching. Youths could wear NASA and space alien-theme costumes.

  • District: Use this activity to hold as a spring activity for Scouts, prospective Scouts, and their families.
  • Packs: Schedule this fun activity for Scouts, prospective Scouts and their families.

Both districts and packs can do this to heighten community involvement and spread the word about Scouting in the area. You can tie this event to the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) program. The day can start out with a flag ceremony, refreshments, rocket building, then a lunch break. In the afternoon is the big event--a rocket-launching competition. The main purpose of this event is to recruit more families into Scouting.
